Referral Clerk
About the role
The Referral Clerk for Ophthalmology and ENT is responsible for managing administrative intake, supporting the referral process, handling inquiries, updating patient charts, and performing other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Manage administrative intake of members
- Work with clinics, facilities, and the clinical team to manage requests for services from members and/or providers
- Manage the referral process, processing incoming and outgoing referrals and prior authorizations, including intake, notification, and census roles
- Handle resolution/inquiries from members and/or providers
- Ability to update patient's charts
- Answer incoming and outgoing calls
- Enter all data into the electronic health record according to company policies and procedures
- Ability to support front office staff as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1+ years of computer proficiency experience (multi-task through multiple applications including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word)
- 1+ years of experience working in medical office position performing duties such as scheduling appointments, checking patients in/out, insurance verification, collecting co-pays, and maintaining medical records or healthcare experience
Qualifications
- Experience working with an electronic health record
- Knowledge of Medical terms
- Experience working with scheduling programs
- Clerical or administrative support background
- Ability to work well with providers, clinical staff, and patients
Soft Skills
- Ability to work independently and maintain good judgment and accountability
- Demonstrated ability to work well with healthcare providers
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks to meet all deadlines
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to speak clearly and concisely, convey information in a manner that others can understand, and ability to understand and interpret information from others
Pay and Benefits
Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase, and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
Hourly pay for this role will range from $18.00 to $32.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
