About the role

Located in The Dalles, Oregon, Adventist Health Columbia Gorge serves the Columbia River Gorge community with a 49‑bed hospital, medical offices, home health, a birthing center, and a wide range of services. The Dalles offers picturesque views of the Columbia River, local charm, and a variety of downtown restaurants and bakeries.

Job Summary

Coordinates and completes referrals, including acquiring and verifying third‑party information, arranging appointments, and tracking outcomes. Works on routine assignments within defined parameters, following established procedures and daily instructions.

Essential Functions

• Communicates with ordering providers and nursing regarding insurance authorizations, denials, peer‑to‑peer review requests, and scheduling difficulties.
• Takes telephone requests for authorizations and prepares referral requests.
• Informs patients of appointment information and instructions.
• Maintains electronic health record (EHR) referral documentation, including adding incoming referrals not generated from the EHR.
• Maintains a referral resource document.
• Schedules referral appointments with the appropriate department or referred‑to provider.
• Tracks referral patient compliance and communicates with referring providers regarding refusals or no‑shows.
• Submits retroactive authorization requests as needed.
• Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High School Education/GED or equivalent (preferred).
• Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience (preferred).
• Certified Nurse’s Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (MA), or completion of a medical terminology course (preferred).

Organizational Requirements

• All associates must receive required vaccinations as a condition of employment and annually thereafter, where applicable (medical and religious exemptions may apply).
• Adventist Health participates in E‑Verify.

Pay

The estimated base pay for this position is $20.72 to $31.06. Additional compensation may be available through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc.

Schedule

Day Shift, 8‑hour shift length.
