Referral Agent - Clinic Referral Agents

About the role

The Referral Agent coordinates timely, accurate, and patient-centered scheduling of referrals and appointments within St. Peter’s Health Medical Group. This role serves as a key point of contact for patients, providers, and care teams, ensuring a seamless patient experience through effective scheduling, information verification, and communication.

Responsibilities

• Manage scheduling activities and obtain/verify patient information
• Communicate important appointment details and visit instructions
• Handle incoming calls and coordinate referrals
• Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, directions, preparation instructions, and payment expectations
• Collaborate with clinic teams and departments to support efficient scheduling workflows, maximize provider schedules, and ensure continuity of care
• Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Requirements

• High school graduate, HiSET or GED preferred
• 1-2 years of Hospital admissions or physicians office experience preferred or 1 plus years professional work experience required
• Experience in customer service or scheduling departments in a healthcare setting highly preferred
• Medical terminology preferred

Qualifications

• High school education, HiSET or GED equivalent preferred
• Must possess interpersonal skills necessary to communicate effectively and efficiently in a courteous and considerate manner
• Impeccable personal honesty, integrity, and confidentiality are essential

Skills

Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills are required.

Benefits

This position is eligible for hybrid remote/onsite work with initial onsite training period required and periodic onsite presence required. Schedule flexibility, including morning, evening, and weekend hours, is available.
