Reentry Coordinator, Center for Justice Impacted Students

Responsibilities

• Meet weekly with incarcerated students to plan and develop reentry plans, portfolios, and assessments.
• Serve as a case worker to students released to ensure reentry plans are implemented.
• Serve as an advocate and liaison between students and the various UBalt reentry resources and services.
• Network, develop, and maintain partnerships with local reentry program, resources, and services.
• Collect, process, and document activities surrounding reentry students, program resources, assessments, and program processes.

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Psychology or other related field/discipline.
• Experience: One year of related experience. Able to pass a background check to enter MD DPSCS prisons.

Qualifications

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience: 3-5 years case management experience, working inside correctional facilities, work on a college campus.

Skills

• Knowledge and understanding of correctional education, university admissions, educational advising, and reentry planning.
• Knowledge of community resources available to assist students, and ability to identify new resources.
• Ability to project a professional and positive image of the College and University.
• Ability to empathize and remain non-judgmental when working with students.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite programs, and of a student information system, such as PeopleSoft for student and class information, degree requirement and record keeping.
