Recycling Technician/Landfill Operator

Job Summary

Recycling Technician:

• Performs a variety of routine and complex administrative, skilled, and technical work.
• Receives, processes, and ships product received at the Gunnison County Recycling Center.

Landfill Operator:

• Operates a wide variety of light, medium, and limited heavy equipment used in the maintenance and construction at the Gunnison County Landfill.
• Performs manual tasks associated with equipment operations and maintenance and construction.
• Performs operator required maintenance on all equipment used.

Pay

The hourly pay range is from $24.19 to $27.54, depending on experience, plus full benefits. The County pays monthly on the last week day of the month.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Colorado driver’s license.
• Must complete ICS 100 and ICS 700 within the first year of employment.
• Willingness to take tetanus and hepatitis shots.
• Valid Class B CDL preferred.
• Current flagging certification.
• Willingness to participate in and complete certification for MSHA Part 46.

Qualifications/Education

• Minimum of one-year experience related to recycling or solid waste programs.
• Two (2) years of experience relating to construction, maintenance, or repair;
• Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
