About the role

This role is responsible for overseeing the county's recycling and solid waste services, ensuring efficient operations and compliance with environmental regulations. The manager will work closely with other departments to develop and implement waste reduction strategies and improve overall sustainability practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of recycling and solid waste facilities.
  • Develop and implement waste reduction programs and policies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and sustainability goals.
  • Manage staff and contractors to achieve operational objectives.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to monitor facility performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to staff on waste management best practices.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends in waste management and sustainability practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in solid waste management or a related field.
  • Experience managing large-scale waste reduction programs.
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability standards.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Civil Engineering or related field preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience working in a public sector environment.

Pay

Schedule
