About the Role
The Recycle Lead will oversee the recycle, reuse, and reclamation program, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in assigned areas. This role provides work direction to custodial staff and assists the supervisor with scheduling and training.
Responsibilities
- Provide work direction and assistance to technicians as directed by the Supervisor
- Assist supervisor in scheduling and training staff as needed
- Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
- Stop at-risk behavior of others and self
- Perform work assignments in a team environment with other employees
- Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area
- Follow all company procedures, policies, and rules
- Take direction and respond to supervision
- Communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers
- Maintain logs and schedules
- Support shift lead in completing punch-list items
- Use proper personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Present a professional appearance and conduct
- Understand customer service and satisfaction, as well as reporting systems and environmental importance
- Collect, salvage, and sort reusable or recyclable materials and waste materials
- Inspect and sort materials
- Maintain dock and collection areas
- Work with multiple collection containers
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 1-2 years of recycling experience in a company environment or equivalent combination of training and experience (preferred)
- CPR/AED/First Aid certification (a plus)
- Valid driver’s license (may be required)
- Completed all safety and task training certification
- Forklift certification (may be required)
- Hazardous Waste Handling Training per RCRA (may be required)
Skills
- Bilingual (a plus)
- Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with the team
- Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
- Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or listen. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. The work environment involves exposure to conditions typical of the role’s essential functions.
Schedule
Alternating Wednesday (every other) and Thursday–Saturday, 5:00 PM – 3:30 AM.
Pay
$17.00–$18.00 per hour.
