About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Senior Technical Recruiter to join our People team, reporting directly to the Head of Onboard Engineering Recruiting. In this hybrid role, you will play a critical part in sourcing, attracting, and hiring top-tier AI/ML research talent to support Waymo's cutting-edge technological advancements. Your focus will be on building strong relationships with research and technical teams, understanding evolving hiring needs, and proactively identifying exceptional candidates across industry, academia, and emerging labs. You will leverage your market insights and talent intelligence to influence hiring strategies, negotiate offers, and ensure a seamless candidate experience.
Qualifications
- Extensive experience recruiting for highly technical, senior, executive, or specialized roles in AI, ML, or related fields
- Strong judgment and discretion in handling confidential candidate information and sensitive conversations
- Exceptional talent intelligence skills, with the ability to interpret market signals and incomplete data
- Prominent ability to build relationships with hard-to-reach candidates, including those not actively seeking new opportunities
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership and influencing recruiting strategies in dynamic environments
- Comfort working in fast-changing settings where role definitions and priorities may shift rapidly
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
Responsibilities
- Partner with research and technical teams to define hiring priorities and develop targeted search strategies aligned with technological roadmaps
- Proactively identify and engage with top AI/ML research talent across industry, academia, and emerging labs, often before formal openings arise
- Conduct recruiting analyses and talent assessments to optimize search processes and improve hiring efficiency
- Utilize market insights and candidate signals to inform hiring decisions, leveling, and compensation strategies for highly specialized roles
- Extend, negotiate, and close offers, providing strategic guidance to hiring managers and candidates throughout the process
- Build and maintain strong relationships with potential candidates, ensuring a positive candidate experience from outreach to onboarding
- Stay informed about industry trends, market conditions, and competitive landscape to attract the best talent
- Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment on hiring goals and priorities
