About the role

The Recruiter I is responsible for recruiting, screening, and interviewing applicants for professional, non-nursing positions. This role ensures the most qualified applicants are available and considered for position openings while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. The Recruiter develops and recommends Human Resources practices and procedures to support organizational growth and participates in performance improvement and customer service improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains rapport and communication with hiring supervisors (directors, managers, coordinators, or leads), addressing their specific needs and recognizing that one process may not fit all.
  • Ensures an adequate pool of qualified applicants by developing, implementing, and adapting recruitment strategies, including marketing (mailers, brochures, publications, advertisements) and recruitment incentives (bonuses, relocation, scholarships).
  • Coordinates hiring activities: prescreening candidates, pre-assessing using available tools, scheduling interviews, and proposing incentives like relocation or sign-on bonuses. Collaborates with external recruiters for hard-to-fill positions.
  • Administers Targeted Selection (TS), ensuring hiring managers are trained in TS interviewing techniques, interview guides, and data integration. Conducts TS Interviewer training and occasionally serves as a TS interviewer.
  • Serves as Administrator of HR Logix, maintaining personnel requisitions, job openings, and applicant information. Ensures new requisitions are correctly completed for weekly staffing council meetings and shares responsibility for preparing the staffing council spreadsheet.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with community organizations and schools by representing the organization positively, attending career fairs, and offering assistance at events.
  • Reports on recruitment activities weekly (or as requested), including the number of hires and position openings.
  • Assists other Recruitment Team members as needed and serves as a backup to the general orientation facilitator.
  • Maintains confidentiality of applicants, candidates, and associates, disclosing information only when necessary for job duties.
  • Completes other assigned duties, either temporarily or permanently, as directed by the department manager or director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Ability to manage a full desk and requisition load.
  • High degree of organization and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Experience

  • 1-year experience in high-volume recruiting preferred.
  • Previous HR experience preferred.

Schedule

5 days - 8 hours per day.
