About the role
The County of Santa Barbara Human Resources Department is seeking an experienced Financial Office Professional II to join the Alcohol, Drug & Mental Health Services team. This position is responsible for applying an understanding of standardized information, regulations, procedures, and operations associated with moderately difficult fiscal record keeping and clerical work.
Responsibilities
- Apply an understanding of standardized information, regulations, procedures, and operations associated with moderately difficult fiscal record keeping and clerical work
- Prepare financial summaries and reports, including those that capture data at a moment in time and those reflecting activity over a period of time
- Analyze the flow of difficult transactions through time
- Conceptualize and/or account for transactions from the perspective of a variety of parties involved
- Use judgment and initiative to select and apply the most appropriate guidelines and to make minor deviations in guidelines and processes to adapt to specific cases
- Consider factors such as the processing requirements and the impact on the work unit
- Receive general supervision; completed work is usually checked for compliance with office procedures and instructions, technical accuracy, and appearance
- May coach and/or lead co-workers
- May serve as the full first-level supervisor of assigned staff
Requirements
- One year of Financial Office Professional I, financial clerical experience, or the equivalent
- Mastery of the following job-related FOP I and II competencies
Qualifications
- Basic accounting terminology
- Basic characteristics of governmental/fund accounting
- Skills to use Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Microsoft Word
- Skills to use computer operating system, word processing, spreadsheet, and email software
- Skills to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers, decimals, and percentages
- Skills to make change, receive payments, and reconcile amounts to documents and controls
- Skills to meet and interact with the public and co-workers courteously and professionally
