About the role

This position involves applying specialized knowledge of local, state, and federal rules and laws, legal procedures, and Title IV-D rules and regulations to enforce and modify child and medical support and local and state laws related to visitation.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains contact with law enforcement agencies and private vendors regarding personal service on litigants/execution of arrest warrants/capiases.
  • Reviews referrals, requests to revoke, and applications from IV-D Child Support Monitoring Program, Community Supervision counselors, and the public.
  • Conducts investigations to locate or trace parties, searches for court settings, and locates records.
  • Researches various systems for up-to-date information regarding child/medical support payments, criminal histories, employment status, financial records, and locate information.
  • Reviews medical packets provided by litigants seeking reimbursement for health insurance/unreimbursed medical expenses.
  • Interviews litigants for additional information/clarification.
  • Enters child and/or medical support payment plans upon the courts' entry of temporary and final orders.
  • Coordinates daily court activities, prepares exhibits for court, and provides court bailiffs with information needed to bring jail inmates before the court.
  • Trains less experienced staff on policies, procedures, and regulations relating to Legal Enforcement's primary causes of legal actions.
  • Performs technical training on the various complex automated systems used to locate, research, document, and retrieve vital records.

Requirements

  • To apply, must have a Bachelor’s Degree + two (2) years work experience in the area of family law, specifically relating to child and medical support and visitation issues + two (2) years legal training either through an accredited college or legal assistant program OR
  • To apply, must have an Associate’s Degree + four (4) years in the area of family law, specifically relating to child and medical support and visitation issues + two (2) years legal training either through an accredited college or legal assistant program.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of complex computer systems, federal rules and regulations, family law statutes and cases, legal procedures, forms, and terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, professionalism, and ability to motivate others.
  • Operate standard and automated office equipment; possess working knowledge of various computer systems.
