Job Summary

The Native American Center for Health Professions (NACHP) is located in the School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH) with the mission to improve the recruitment, retention and graduation rates of health professions students engaged with Tribal communities and to promote health education, research and community-academic partnerships with Tribal communities. The Improving Indigenous Health through Mentorship, Academics, Engagement and Innovation (IIMAGIN) is a three-year initiative, grant funded by the Wisconsin Partnership Program (WPP). IIMAGIN will focus on strengthening existing pre-college and college program pathways, in partnership with tribal communities and tribal colleges and universities. Additionally, the IIMAGIN grant will enhance opportunities for residents, fellows and faculty by expanding tribal clinic rotations and expand Indigenous health curriculum.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Leads the implementation of programs, policies, and procedures through oversight of day-to-day activities for program staff and student and community volunteers
• Develops and evaluates curriculum and programs and provides recommendations for improvement
• Works with NACHP Tribal Engagement Office on coordination of tribal clinic rotations and community research projects and ongoing communication with faculty and students
• Identifies, promotes, and maintains external partnerships to support the outreach program
• Researches, develops, and facilitates outreach program content and materials
• May assist with the monitoring of outreach program budget spending
• Delivers outreach program content and materials to community members
• Schedules and secures resources and communicates logistics in support of an outreach program

The mission of NACHP is to enhance the recruitment, retention and graduation rates of health professions students engaged with Native communities and to promote health education, research and community-academic partnerships with Native communities. Primary objectives: Enhance the recruitment of health professions students interested in serving Native communities Improve the health professions student experience Establish and enhance Native health education opportunities within Native communities Recruit, retain and develop faculty who are committed to serving Native populations and Native communities Grow academic research and education programs focused on Native health by partnering with Native communities

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $50,000 up to $55,000 for highly experienced candidates and actual pay within this range will depend on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications

• Excellent written, oral and online communication skills and attention to detail
• Experience coordinating groups, programs and/or other relevant areas through regular communication and planning
• Work experience related to tribal or Native community outreach, education and training, or health
• Experience working with American Indian/Alaska Native K-12, college and/or health professional student populations in educational settings
• Experience developing and maintaining strong, collaborative bi-directional working relationships with partners, educators and/or staff in a professional setting
• Capacity to produce deliverables with limited supervision or oversight
• A person with strong connections with Tribal communities and/or organizations in the Great Lakes region
• Experience with data entry, tracking of information and initiative outcomes
• Experience convening, developing and managing projects with multiple stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications
