Recreational Therapy Aide, Skilled Nursing Center (Part time, Weekends)

About the Role

The Recreation Therapy Aide plans, organizes, and implements a variety of individual and group activities designed to meet the needs of all residents of Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center. Duties are tailored to the person-specific needs of the patients served.

Responsibilities

• Plan and organize recreational activities for individuals and groups
• Implement activities appropriate to the needs of geriatric residents
• Transport residents using wheelchairs and assist with loading/unloading and securing residents onto vans for safe transport
• Maintain positive relationships with residents, families, and facility personnel

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Previous experience working with a geriatric population (preferred)
• Must pass PA State Police criminal history check
• Certified or able to become certified in CPR
• Valid PA driver’s license (preferred); if selected as a driver, must pass Allied Services’ Driver Training Program

Physical Demands

• Exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally (10-33% of shift) and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently (33-66% of the time)
• Bending, reaching, walking, transporting wheelchairs, and stooping (occasionally in strained positions)
• Ability to move throughout the facility and load/unload residents for transport

Working Conditions

• Works on units, in residents' dining rooms, and outside the facility
• Possible exposure to paint fumes during craft activities
