RECREATIONAL THERAPIST - LICENSED

Responsibilities

• Supports and implements program philosophy, working closely with other personnel to ensure treatment interventions are appropriate for each patient.
• Maintains high-quality documentation of all therapy services consistent with facility policies in a timely manner, meeting all deadlines.
• Upholds professional, ethical standards and all legal requirements.
• Collaborates with the multidisciplinary treatment team to provide patient-centered care.
• Assesses patients’ needs regularly and assists in the development and updating of the Master Treatment Plan.
• Facilitates group activity therapy for assigned patients.
• Assists the team with planning and executing special events for patients.
• Demonstrates knowledge of age-specific physical, motor, cognitive, language, and social/personality development levels within activity therapy.
• Adheres to all safety policies and safe work practices.
• Attends hospital safety trainings.

Qualifications

Education:

• Recreational Therapist: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and eligible to sit for the national exam conducted through the National Council on Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
• Art Therapist: Minimum of a master’s degree from an accredited university and working toward registration with the Art Therapy Credentials Board (ATCB).
• Music Therapist: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university and eligible to sit for the national exam conducted through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT).

Licensure/Certification: Must be licensed as CTRS, LPATA, or LPAT, depending on the role.

Experience: One to three years of inpatient behavioral health work preferred.
