Recreational Therapist

About the role

Provide therapeutic recreation programs, including individual and group therapy, to support individuals' growth and independence. This role is essential in a mission-driven work environment focused on rehabilitation and development.

Responsibilities

• Assess participants upon admission and develop personalized rehabilitation plans in collaboration with staff.
• Communicate effectively with participants, families, and funders.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and maintain equipment.
• Advocate for recreational therapy and stay current with best practices through ongoing education.
• Develop and implement therapy programs tailored to individual needs.
• Evaluate participants' progress and adjust plans as needed.
• Train staff and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Promote understanding of the benefits of recreational therapy.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy.
• Two years of experience in rehabilitation or working with neurological/developmental deficits.
• CTRS (Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist) certification.
• Knowledge of rehabilitative techniques and strong communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
