Recreational Therapist

Responsibilities
- Performs structured evaluations and develops a treatment plan in conjunction with primary care counselor using therapeutic, recreational, and leisure activities
- Conducts assessment and establishes recreational therapy treatment goals and objectives to meet the individual needs of patients
- Pre-certifies patient care. Conducts ongoing reviews to authorize continued care
- Evaluates each patient's progress and the effectiveness of recreational therapy interventions
- Formulates a goal-directed plan of care in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary treatment team utilizing assessment data from the Interdisciplinary Assessments
- Updates Treatment Plan weekly or more often as needed
- Captures therapeutic recreation activities for both large and small groups to observe patient response and encourage socialization
- Aids in the development of discharge plan in timely and documented standards
- Provides patient and patient's family with information regarding leisure lifestyles and creates an awareness of recreational resources in their community
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Recreational Therapy or related field required
- Master's Degree preferred
- Therapeutic Recreation Specialist certification
- BLS certification
- One year of experience in a hospital setting preferred
Qualifications
- Handle with Care within 3 months of hire
- Current Recreational Therapist license

- Knowledge of therapeutic recreation techniques and activities
