Recreational Therapist
About the role
Colorado PACE has an immediate opening for a Recreational Therapist. The position is located in Aurora, CO and is full-time with a schedule of Monday-Friday, 8am - 4:30pm. The pay range is $21.04 - $24.72, with supplemental pay based on position, schedule, and/or availability.
Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, organize and direct the implementation of activity/recreation programs in accordance with current state and CMS guidelines for a PACE program, and company policies and procedures.
- Plans, implements, directs, and evaluates the Activity Programs to ensure all participant's assessed needs are met.
- Interviews participants as necessary in a private setting, provides information regarding activity programs and involves them in planning activities when possible.
- Completes a comprehensive assessment of the activity needs of each participant including background, interests, abilities, physical and mental limitations, and strengths.
- Ensures that a current activity schedule is maintained for each participant and coordinates with the Interdisciplinary Team in assisting participants with selection of activity in compliance with physician orders.
- Develops monthly activity calendar providing a variety of activities that are available to meet the needs of the participants. Ensures calendars are posted/distributed by the 1st of the month. Posts changes to calendar in accordance with state and CMS guidelines for a PACE program.
- Schedules movies, plans parties and provides games for participants.
- Provides adapted material for the impaired participants including but not limited to Braille reading material, tapes and records to ensure maximum participation in activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited college and certification or training in therapeutic recreation preferred.
- One year recreational therapy experience, preferably working with the frail and elderly population in a healthcare setting.
- Valid Colorado Driver’s License and proof of auto insurance.
Physical requirements
Ability to lift/carry a minimum of 30 lbs.
