Recreational Therapist

Alliance Health Center is a 154-bed acute care psychiatric and chemical dependency hospital in Meridian, Mississippi. The facility offers treatment programs for adults, adolescents, and seniors, including a unique program track specifically for seniors. The campus also includes The Crossings, a 60-bed residential treatment facility for adolescents. We provide behavioral health programs for all ages, detoxification, dual diagnosis, and addiction services such as our 30-day New Leaf Recovery program.

Responsibilities

• Provide art, music, and therapeutic recreation services to patients, including direct therapy and evaluative activities.
• Coordinate hospital-wide recreational activities.
• Maintain documentation of services rendered from the recreational perspective.

Requirements

• Bachelor's and/or Master's level degree from an accredited college/university in a Therapeutic Recreation program, Art, or Music.
• Certification with CTRS preferred; CTRS eligible candidates must pass the CTRS exam within 6 months of hire.
• One year of experience working with a mental health population is highly preferred.
• Knowledge of group leadership skills, age-specific growth and development, crisis, and behavior management preferred.

Schedule

This position requires availability on weekdays and weekends.
