Responsibilities
- Responds to physicians’ orders for patient assessment and treatment.
- Identifies individual patient needs and designs an activity therapy program for all patients.
- Utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to patient care in collaboration with the patient, family/significant others, and the treatment team.
- Develops and implements individualized patient treatment plans and group programs.
- Facilitates interventions to restore, remediate or rehabilitate patients’ functioning and increase patients’ independence.
- Documents evaluation of patient progress toward goals, patients’ response to interventions, modification to treatment as necessary, and discharge/transition plans.
- Demonstrates leadership in the profession and organization by advocating for and facilitating necessary change and initiatives.
- Exemplifies quality service provision.
- Manages professional practice through promoting and demonstrating accountability.
- Participates in improvement and resource management by evaluating, developing, and coordinating specialized programs.
- Engages in evidence-based research and quality improvement activities for the clinical service team and department.
- Affords assistance in the acquisition and maintenance of supplies, equipment and facility planning.
Qualifications
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Recreational Therapy.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Therapist (or registration eligible) required.
- Current NC licensure as Recreational Therapist.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred.
