Recreation Worker (Jackson Recreation Center)

Salary: $14.00 per hour.

About the Role

Assist the Center Manager in delivering services for Families Parks and Recreation senior enrichment, after-school, or summer programs. Ensure educational, behavioral, and financial objectives are met while addressing the needs of staff, youth, seniors, families, and the public. This role involves specialized work in academic, enrichment, and athletic programming under the direction of the FPR and/or Recreation Center Manager. Daily responsibilities include helping to clean the facility and park. Work is reviewed through reports, observation, performance evaluations, and conferences.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or supervise a variety of educational and athletic activities.
• Ensure the safety of participants and the facility in enrichment, after-school, and/or summer programs.
• Perform work outdoors as needed.

Requirements

• Currently attending high school, graduation from high school, or possession of a General Equivalency Diploma.
• Some knowledge or experience in an organized educational, recreation, or leisure services field (e.g., educational programs, youth sports, cultural and therapeutic arts, health and fitness, community centers).
• Valid Florida driver’s license or state ID.
• First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
• Certification by the Florida Recreation and Park Association desired but not required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Teachers, individuals with some college experience, or current college students.
• Experience in the following areas: STEM, Dance, Band, Drumline, Choir, Music Theatre, Media, Mentoring, Tutoring, Gaming, VR Gaming, Competitive Sports Leagues, Teen Focus Groups, Hair Braiding, Recording Studio, Culinary, and special events planning.

Schedule

This is a part-time, temporary/seasonal position with no guaranteed number of hours. The contract may be renewed annually based on performance and business need.
