Position Summary

Under the direction of the Art Museum Manager & Curator, performs various tasks as necessary to provide services for the St. George Art Museum.

Essential Functions/Typical Working/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

1. Oversees the work of other part-time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks 2. Assists in staff training and assignments, recruiting, and evaluation of staff 3. Provide customer service in person and over the phone; answering questions and/or referring customers to appropriate staff members 4. Coordinates and manages scheduling for front desk staff to ensure optimal coverage and seamless visitor experience 5. Updates and maintains museum website and social media presence 6. Writes, edits, and distributes newsletter 7. Handles payments to gift shop artists 8. Responds to public inquiries providing accurate information regarding various city arts and recreation programs and services 9. Assists Education team with tours, classes, and programming as assigned 10. Assists in Exhibit preparation, including printing and hanging labels, preparing exhibit space, leveling artwork, and more as directed by curator/manager 11. Documents and acknowledges all donations to the museum; manages museum membership and museum contacts database (PastPerfect Museum Software) 12. May be delegated tasks normally performed by FT employees 13. Works programs and special events, taking charge in part or whole of assigned programs, events, or facilities 14. Aids in the promotion and advertising of programs and special events 15. Registers participants for programs, classes, and activities 16. General office and clerical duties 17. Copies and prepares various brochures, flyers, schedules, rosters, etc. for distribution 18. Organizes, cleans, prepares and maintains museum facilities and other work areas 19. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed 20. Follows all city policies and procedures

Typical Physical/Mental Demands/Working Conditions

Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment. Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies. Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies. Requires moderately heavy physical activity, exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently. Mental demands of intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.

Note

Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for museum offerings. This is a part-time position with variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a period of twelve months.

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of one year of office administration experience preferred. Minimum one year of social media marketing experience preferred. Customer service experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: General Knowledge of museum studies, art history, visual arts, fine arts or a closely related field preferred Knowledge of basic business administration principles Human relations, communication, and organizational skills Art and art museums Educational programming methods and techniques Social media Cash register/credit card machine usage Skills: Highly motivated Dependable Customer service oriented Computer literate Ability to: Follow Directions Perform Physical Labor Communicate orally in the English language or on a one-on-one or group setting basis Prepare written information in the English language using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar Learn and operate museum-specific software Be Flexible Follow through with assignments with minimal supervision Work with a team Operate a motor vehicle safely Work independently and supervise others

Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day, but may be turned away if there are no available tee-times. If you happen to be golfing with at least 2 paying customers; tee times can be set with more advance notice, but are still based on availability. Red Hills Golf Course will not be available to schedule tee times in advance --- walk on play based on availability only.
