Recreation Therapist (Day Shift)

About the role

The Recreation Therapist will evaluate, plan, implement, and document therapeutic recreation programs to enhance residents' health, functional status, and quality of life, adhering to CT DPH standards and department expectations.

Responsibilities

• Creating individualized treatment plans
• Conducting 1:1, small, and large group activities, community trips, and special events to meet social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical needs—especially for residents with dementia
• Maintaining a diverse activity calendar
• Motivating participation and transporting residents
• Ensuring proper documentation of assessments, care plans, and participation records
• Communicating effectively with residents of diverse backgrounds and abilities
• Adhering to safety protocols

Qualifications

• Minimum of TRD certification (required)
• CTRS certification (preferred)
• Dementia-specific training
• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation (preferred)
• Associates Degree with TRD certification (required)
