Recreation Therapist (Day Shift)

About the role

Evaluates, plans, implements, and documents therapeutic recreation programs to enhance residents' health, functional status, and quality of life, in accordance with CT DPH standards and director expectations.

Responsibilities

• Create diverse programs including 1:1 sessions, small and large group activities, community trips, and facility events to meet residents' social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive, and physical needs, with specialized experience in programming for residents with dementia.
• Develops individualized treatment plans that are culturally relevant and tailored to residents' social, emotional, physical, psychological, and cognitive conditions.
• Motivate participation, transport residents, and maintain documentation such as assessments, care plans, notes, and participation records.
• Communicate effectively with residents, considering their diverse needs and conditions, and participate in meetings and educational activities.
• Adhere to safety protocols, universal precautions, and departmental chemicals.

Requirements

• Minimum qualifications: TRD certification; CTRS preferred, with dementia-specific training required.
• Education requirements: Associate’s degree with TRD certification or bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation.
