RECREATION THERAPIST (CTRS) Per Diem
About the Role
Arrowhead Behavioral Health is seeking a Per Diem Recreation Therapist to create an exciting atmosphere where patients learn and develop new skills. The therapist plans, organizes, and directs medically approved recreation programs to help patients develop interpersonal relationships, socialize effectively, and build coping and stress management skills. The role involves adapting leisure activities to align with patients’ capabilities, needs, and interests.
Arrowhead Behavioral Health is a 48-bed psychiatric hospital in Maumee, Ohio, serving adults 18 and older with mental health and chemical dependency services. Inpatient programs include drug and alcohol withdrawal management, stabilization, and mental health crisis care. Outpatient services encompass partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, a Relapse Prevention Program, and a Medication Administration Program to support lifelong sobriety.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and direct medically approved recreation programs for hospital patients.
- Assist patients in developing interpersonal relationships and socialization skills.
- Teach coping skills and stress management techniques.
- Adapt leisure activity programs to meet patients’ capabilities, needs, and interests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy with CTRS certification.
- Previous experience in a mental health or substance abuse treatment facility preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple projects.
- Professional demeanor and appearance.
- Diplomacy, discretion, and attention to detail.
