RECREATION THERAPIST - BEHAVIORAL HEALTH

About the role

The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist is responsible for establishing, coordinating, organizing, and implementing a balanced recreation therapy program based on the specific ages, needs, and treatment issues of the patients served.

Responsibilities

• Make professional decisions to ensure patient safety during recreation therapy and experiential therapy groups
• Maintain knowledge of, and proper use and maintenance of, recreational and experiential equipment
• Purchase supplies
• Maintain knowledge of current inventory and professional trends
• Maintain national level professional certification or state level registration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation or in recreation with a therapeutic emphasis required
• Master's degree preferred
• Certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (C.T.R.S.) and/or Ohio registration as Recreation Therapy Consultant or Therapist (R.R.T.C. or R.T.R.) required
• Previous inpatient, adult, or adolescent/child experience preferred
• Knowledge of mental health and chemical dependency treatment preferred
• Experiential therapy or education experience preferred
• Must possess or be eligible for a State of Ohio driver's license
• Certification in CPR & CPI required

Shift

7:00AM-3:30PM or 8:00AM-4:30PM, 40 hours a week, 80 hours per pay period
