Recreation Therapist

Employment Type: Full time • Shift: Day Shift (Monday – Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm) • Location: LIFE New Jersey, 2475 McClellan Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ

About the role

This position coordinates and provides all activities within the day program. While primarily housed at the LIFE New Jersey facility, occasional home care work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care assistance to maintain participant independence in activities of daily living, including toileting, showers, eating, and grooming.
• Assist participants in maintaining physical activity, exercise, and walking.
• Provide behavioral supervision or support for participants, such as reality orientation, reminders to follow nursing and medication instructions, diet restrictions, and emotional reassurance.
• Assist with general activities such as conversing with participants, recreation activities, meal and snack serving, and housekeeping.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy related field or NCCAP Activity Professionals Certification.
• Minimum of two (2) years demonstrated experience in activities/therapeutic recreation related services with a geriatric population.
• Minimum of one (1) year documented experience working with a frail or elderly population, or if less than one (1) year, must receive appropriate training from the PACE organization upon hiring.
• Action-oriented, business acumen, conflict management, customer focus, high decision quality, flexibility to adapt to change, and organizational agility.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment.
