Recreation Therapist

About the role

The Recreation Therapist plans, organizes, and supervises recreational activities to promote healthy leisure lifestyles and social development for youth in a human services setting.

Responsibilities

• Develops diverse programs including arts, sports, and community trips aligned with treatment plans.
• Supervises facility safety, performs maintenance, and manages risk to ensure a secure environment.
• Documents progress, participates in treatment team meetings, and provides feedback on service plans.
• Supervises recreational activities for youth, completes reports, and assists in special events.

Requirements

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related field, with experience in youth recreation and relevant certifications such as CPR and possibly Lifeguard.
• Must demonstrate strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills, along with cultural competence and ethical conduct.
