Recreation Technician
About the role
The Recreation Technician position in the Parks & Recreation Department serves as a point person between customers, service staff, and supervisors within recreation facilities. Reporting to the Recreation Center Manager, the role involves overseeing daily front desk operations, assisting with marketing, administrative duties, and implementing departmental goals and objectives. The position also leads the Guest Services team, focusing on delivering high-quality customer service.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the front desk team (cashiers and receptionists), overseeing all daily operations, staff training, and scheduling.
- Deliver excellent customer service to patrons, respond promptly to customer inquiries, and resolve a variety of customer-related situations.
- Cook up and oversee customer-planned activities within the facilities.
- Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals, policies, and procedures for recreation services.
- Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment.
- Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of Guest Services equipment and software.
- Aid with general administrative duties.
- Serve as Manager on Duty on a rotational basis.
Requirements
Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in recreation, physical education, leisure studies, sociology, communications, a related field, or relevant experience in recreation facilities and recreation programming. A valid Colorado driver’s license is required.
Qualifications
You will succeed in this role if you understand the operations, services, and programs of a municipal parks and recreation department, have experience in supervising, training, and evaluating staff performance, and are comfortable using Microsoft Office at an intermediate level and navigating recreation management software.
