Duties
- Serves as a Recreation Specialist within the Recreation Program Team involved with planning, organizing, and conducting facility recreation programs for the community.
- Organizes, plans, and evaluates community programs that reflect community interests.
- Works in executing community-wide recreation events, programs and services to meet the diversified needs of the community, including a variety of multi disciplinary events.
- Develops and plans publicity using installation media.
- Recommends items of supplies, materials, prizes, decorations, refreshments, and equipment needed for program functions.
- Assists with training new personnel.
- Assures that proper security measures are taken to safeguard monies, property, equipment and facility.
- Assists with other recreation programs in the Recreation Center as needed.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
- Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
- A one-year probationary period may be required.
- Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
- Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
- Must be available to work all hours of operations including nights, weekends, holidays and special events inside and outside of the facility.
- Work requires the use of physical exertion when preparing for and overseeing events. Must be able to lift and carry light to moderately heavy items.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following minimum qualification criteria:
- Experience OR a combination of experience and education that provided the knowledge of the goals, principles, methods, and techniques of recreation programs and an understanding of the interests of individuals or groups.
- Completion of the requirements for a bachelor's degree with major study in outdoor recreation and parks; recreation management; youth, public, urban or community recreation; or special population recreation is qualifying experience.
- Resume MUST clearly reflect the knowledge and experience listed under the minimum qualification criteria above.
Education
Completion of bachelor's degree with major study in Outdoor Recreation and Parks; Recreation Management; Youth, Public, Urban or Community Recreation.
