About the role

The City of Chandler Neighborhood Resources Department is seeking a Recreation Specialist for the Housing Youth program. This position is scheduled to work 40 hours on a 5x8 schedule (Monday-Friday) during CUSD academic calendar and academic intersessions, and a 4x10 schedule (Monday-Thursday) during the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement youth programming that supports the needs and interests of the children and youth living in Chandler’s four Public Housing family sites.
  • Collaborate with other departments and community partners to enhance youth engagement and support.
  • Ensure all activities are age-appropriate, safe, and promote positive youth development.
  • Assist in maintaining facilities and equipment for youth programs.
  • Participate in regular meetings and trainings to stay updated on best practices and new initiatives.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED;
  • 2 years of experience in a youth recreation or adult activity program;
  • A First Aid/CPR Certification within 90 days of hire or promotion;
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record;
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Desired Qualifications

  • 3 years college preparation in Recreation, Physical Education, or related field.

Pay

This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
