Recreation Program Leader 1 (NY HELPS)
About the Role
Recreation Program Leaders plan and coordinate organized discretionary time activities for incarcerated individuals in a facility of the Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). Incumbents develop, implement, and direct a comprehensive recreational program of athletic and non-athletic activities, and related activities, under the banner of Special Subjects Programs.
Qualifications
Acceptable Related Experience:
- An associate's degree in physical education, recreation, recreational therapy, or a closely related recreational field* AND two years of experience directing or assisting in the direction of a scheduled, organized recreational program
- An associate's degree AND three years of experience as described above
- A bachelor's degree or higher in physical education, recreation, recreational therapy, or a closely related recreational field*
- A bachelor's degree or higher AND one year of experience as described above
- Four years of experience as described above
*Qualifying closely related recreational field degrees are: athletic training, exercise science, kinesiology (athletic training), kinesiology (physical education), kinesiology (sports management), movement and science, health and wellness (fitness/exercise), recreation and leisure studies, recreation education, recreation management, sports management, sports medicine or therapeutic recreation.
Pay
$25.75 - $32.87/Hour
