Recreation Leader II - Recreation Centers 2026

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.

Qualifications

• Experience and Training Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Experience coordinating recreational activities: Six months of experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a municipal setting or government sector: Prior experience preferred.
• Experience in customer service and excellent interpersonal communication skills: Prior experience preferred.

Skills

• Ability to lead and work effectively with program participants.
• Ability to organize and lead recreation activities.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing, and/or by whatever creative means are necessary to cross communication barriers.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants and the public.
• Ability to maintain facilities and equipment in a clean, safe, and secure manner.
• Ability to use a personal computer and a variety of computer software.
• Ability to lift and carry equipment, and/or supplies required for the assigned activity up to 25 pounds.

Benefits

Starting pay for current City employees will be determined by City of Wichita policy or applicable bargaining unit agreement.

Offers of employment are contingent upon passing a pre-employment physical, which includes drug screening, and upon satisfactory evaluation of a criminal record check.

May require ability to acquire and maintain a Child First Aid and CPR Certification.

May require ability to work outdoors in unpleasant weather conditions.

May require ability to tolerate airborne nuisances associated with open grounds and windy conditions.

May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License.
