Recreation Instructor I or II - Casper Ice Arena

About the role

Share your love of skating and help others build confidence on the ice. The Casper Ice Arena is seeking enthusiastic instructors to join the Learn-to-Skate program, teaching a fun and rewarding skill to skaters of varying ages and abilities. Classes are typically 30 minutes long and held on Mondays beginning at 5:30 p.m. This is a great opportunity for someone with skating experience who enjoys teaching, encouraging others, and creating a positive experience on the ice.

Candidates will be hired at the Recreation Instructor I or II level based on experience and qualifications.

Pay

Recreation Instructor II: $20.44 – $27.60 per hour

Responsibilities

• Plan, instruct, and supervise participants in the Learn-to-Skate program.
• Maintain appropriate attendance and class records.
• Prepare a class summary and instructional materials for assigned classes.
• Explain and demonstrate skating techniques to participants.
• Maintain a safe environment for participants on the ice.
• Provide general customer service and communicate with the public regarding fees, policies, rules, and facility information.
• Represent the City of Casper by responding professionally and courteously to the public and other stakeholders.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Recreation Instructor I

• At least 16 years of age.
• Minimum of six months of experience in a specialized program such as ice skating, dance, sports, or similar fields preferred.
• Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of hire preferred.

Recreation Instructor II

• High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) preferred.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a specialized program such as ice skating, dance, sports, or similar fields preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certifications within six months of hire preferred.
• Certification in the area of instruction (e.g., ice skating) or equivalent professional experience.

Skills

• Customer service.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety rules.
