About the role

We are now hiring multiple positions for Recreation & Certified Instructors. Our team is looking for enthusiastic instructors to bring exciting programs to our community.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, lead, and instruct recreational programs and activities, including sports, fitness classes, games, and other leisure activities.
  • Develop choreography and routines for Group Fitness classes and incorporate music.
  • Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring they are used properly and safely.
  • Provide instruction and guidance to participants of various skill levels, adapting programs to meet their needs.
  • Promote participation in recreational activities through community outreach, marketing, and engagement efforts.
  • Prepare reports, maintain records, and complete necessary forms related to program attendance, incidents, and other relevant data.
  • Foster a positive environment that encourages teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development.
  • Collaborate with other staff members, volunteers, and community partners to enhance program offerings and improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid Arizona driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of formal fitness or classroom teaching, or related experience.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Licenses and Certifications: Valid Arizona driver's license, First Aid, CPR/AED certification.
  • Knowledge: Recreation sports programs, youth activities, human anatomy, kinesiology, planning, organizing, problem-solving, equipment and supplies used in youth and adult sports, fitness classes, games, and activities.
  • Skills: Communication, interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, ability to write reports and fill out forms, ability to use critical thinking and judgement, ability to provide courteous and efficient service to the public.

Skills

  • Ability to develop fitness routines that incorporate music, tempo, cueing techniques, rhythm, and choreography.
  • Ability to develop and implement fitness classes appropriate to the class description and ability level of participants.
  • Ability to supervise multiple games and activities simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
