Recreation Facilities Staff I - Lifeguard

About the role

We're seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our Whitmore Pool lifeguard team. Ideal candidates should be already certified, or willing to undergo training to become a certified American Red Cross Lifeguard.

Responsibilities

• Maintain close and constant surveillance of persons in and around the pool for potential emergencies and safety hazards
• Enforce rules and regulations
• Maintain a variety of daily checklists and maintenance records
• Issue season passes and register pupils for swimming lessons and aquatic programs
• Accept payment of fees; prepare and issue receipts
• Maintain records and files
• Perform routine pool and facility maintenance
• Perform related duties as assigned

Requirements

• Some experience as a Lifeguard
• Some experience with cash handling
• Possession of, or ability to obtain through training provided by the Town of Mammoth Lakes, a current American Red Cross Lifeguard certification

Qualifications

No minimum education requirements. Some experience as a Lifeguard and some experience with cash handling is preferable.

Pay

The pay scale is shown on this posting. Advancements in salary shall be based on a merit system. Step A (the minimum rate) will be the starting hiring rate. Employees shall be eligible for advancement to steps within the salary range upon satisfactory completion of an annual performance evaluation.

Schedule

This is a temporary position with full-time hours potentially available for the summer months. You must be available to work a varied schedule including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
