About the role
This position involves performing all pool and waterfront lifeguard responsibilities, conducting aquatic assessments, and providing facility maintenance and safety inspections. It also includes administering aquatic assessments and certifications, serving as a liaison during emergencies, and enforcing facility policies.
Responsibilities
- Performs all pool and waterfront lifeguard responsibilities, including supervising swimmers, monitoring water activities, applying first aid, enforcing safety rules, and performing water rescues.
- Observes and removes hazardous materials from the area.
- Conducts and documents pool chemical testing, adjusting chemicals as necessary.
- Administers aquatic assessments and certifications.
- Serves as the primary liaison during emergencies.
- Enforces policies and conducts routine safety inspections.
- Ensures facility cleanliness and maintenance.
- Communicates effectively both orally and in writing.
Requirements
The incumbent must meet the following requirements:
- Knowledge of pool safety rules.
- Knowledge of DoD, DON, and CNIC policies and procedures governing aquatic assessment testing and certifications.
- Knowledge of applicable policies and procedures of MWR regarding the use of Aquatic facilities.
- Knowledge of cash handling procedures.
- Ability to identify and respond to hazards or patron needs.
- Ability to instruct on water safety and enforce facility rules.
- Ability to conduct routine safety inspections and adjust chemical imbalances.
- Skilled in lifesaving techniques and radio communications.
- Controlled ability to manage large groups.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Must be able to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to work irregular hours.
- Must be able to pass a background investigation and drug test.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a favorable background.
- Must be able to pass a Selective Service registration.
- Must be able to pass an employment verification check.
- Must be able to pass a REAL ID or passport requirement.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary certifications (C.A.R.E., Emergency First Responder, CPR First Aid, Food Handler).
