Recreation Facilities Assistant (Part-time)
About the role
The Tustin Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Facilities Assistant to support the department's mission of serving the community through people, parks, and programs. This position involves setting up facilities for meetings, recreation classes, and special events, as well as performing facility maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Moves and arranges tables, chairs, fitness equipment, and heavy objects to set up City facilities for scheduled recreation classes, City Council meetings, and other events.
- Sets up and secures facilities after use by ensuring doors and equipment are locked and turned off.
- Maintains safety by monitoring facilities for hazards and clearing walkways and doorways of obstructions.
- Provides customer service by answering questions and offering information about facilities and recreation programs.
- Aids in special events by setting up and taking down booths and tables, delivering supplies, and monitoring the event to ensure cleanliness and safety.
- Assists with facility maintenance by emptying trash receptacles, spot cleaning floors, windows, counters, sinks, furniture, and walls, and performing light maintenance tasks like replacing light bulbs and painting.
- Reports serious maintenance issues to supervisor.
- Travels to and from various City facilities in a safe and timely manner by driving a City vehicle.
Requirements
- Valid California Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record.
- One year of experience working in a position involving extensive customer service or public interaction.
- Flexible availability for evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds with assistance.
Qualifications
A typical combination of education, experience, and training is required for entry into the classification. This includes graduation from high school and one year of experience working in a position involving extensive customer service or public interaction.

Benefits
This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefitted position. Employees do not receive health, retirement, or any other benefits unless otherwise required by law. Deferred Compensation: In lieu of Social Security, employees are required to contribute 5.5% of salary on a pre-tax basis every pay period to an OBRA 457 deferred compensation plan. The City contributes an additional 2%, for a total combined contribution of 7.5%.

Required Question
