Recreation Coordinator - Softball Coordinator (Part Time)

Location: City Commons Building - St. George, UT

Salary: $17.71 hourly

About the Role

Under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor, this part-time position performs various tasks to provide recreation services to the St. George community. The primary focus is on Softball Programs, including leagues and tournaments, with additional support for special events as required.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the work of other part-time employees and volunteers during assigned shifts or tasks.
• Assists in staff training, assignments, recruiting, and evaluation of staff.
• Provides customer service in person and over the phone; answers questions and/or refers customers to appropriate staff members.
• Responds to public inquiries, providing accurate information regarding recreation programs and services.
• Assists the Recreation Supervisor with planning, developing, implementing, and evaluating programs, and helps maintain relationships with program contractors.
• May be delegated tasks normally performed by full-time employees.
• Aids in the promotion and advertising of programs and special events.
• Registers participants for programs, classes, and activities.
• Performs general office and clerical duties, including copying and preparing brochures, flyers, schedules, and rosters for distribution.
• Organizes, cleans, prepares, and maintains recreation facilities and other work areas.
• Works programs and special events, taking charge of assigned programs, events, or facilities.
• Runs errands and contributes to team effort by accomplishing other related duties as needed.
• Follows all city policies and procedures.

Working Conditions

• Conditions and temperatures may vary depending on the assignment.
• Requires the use of vision and/or hearing to identify and evaluate emergencies; must respond quickly and appropriately.
• Involves moderately heavy physical activity, exerting 25-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10-25 pounds of force frequently.
• Mental demands include intermittent exposure to stress as a result of human behavior.
• Must be available to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and other schedules to help prepare for recreation offerings.
• Variable hours averaging less than 28 hours per week over a twelve-month period.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; preference given to those with education in recreation or a related field.
• Minimum of one year of experience working in leagues, tournaments, and events for the City of St. George or a similar organization.
• Minimum of one year of experience using Sportsman SQL or a similar registration management software platform (preferred).
• Customer service experience preferred.
• Must possess a valid driver license; a valid Utah Driver License must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certification required; must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.

• Golf course privileges are based on availability. Employees can book a tee-time within 24 hours or the same day but may be turned away if no tee-times are available. If golfing with at least 2 paying customers, tee times can be set with more advance notice but are still based on availability. Red Hills Golf Course is walk-on play only, based on availability.
