Recreation Assistant (Range Operations) NF-02.

Army Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) position supporting military and civilian personnel and their families.

Responsibilities

• Execute range facility opening, closing, and operating procedures in accordance with installation, local, and federal laws.
• Maintain communications and follow instructions from the installation range control agency to ensure safe operations.
• Instruct patrons on range safety practices and provide general firearm and marksmanship information.
• Ensure all safety issues in the operation of the range are addressed.
• Maintain proper handling, storage, accountability, and inventory of ammunition, and ensure vault security.
• Issue ammunition and range-related accessories to customers, verify ID, and collect fees.
• Check inventory and supplies, and request restock as needed.
• Perform cashier duties and maintain records of sales.
• Conduct facility and range maintenance.
• Circulate among patrons to ensure service satisfaction and adherence to safety procedures.
• Receive and resolve customer complaints.
• Direct patrons, schedule range use, conduct briefings, and monitor patrons.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card are required.
• Must meet qualification, eligibility, and background requirements for the position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks, including a Tier 1 background investigation.
• A physical assessment is required.
• Must meet age restrictions for the handling of firearms.
• Position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968.
• This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP); a negative drug test is required prior to appointment, and subsequent random drug tests will be conducted.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance and heavier loads with assistance.

Qualifications

• Experience with firing range operations and firearm safety.
• Work experience involving dealing with the general public.
• Cashier skills are a plus.
• Must be able to obtain current Installation Range Certification Card, National Rifle Association (NRA) Range Safety Officer Certification, or equivalent certification within 60 days of entrance on duty.

Schedule

• Wednesday through Friday: 09:00 AM – 04:00 PM
• Saturday through Sunday: 08:00 AM – 04:00 PM

Work hours and workdays are subject to change depending on the needs of the department.
