Recreation Assistant - Pavilion Adult Day Center (Full time) #2534

About the role

The Recreation Assistant will provide activities of a physical, social, mental, and spiritual nature tailored to the individual abilities, needs, and desires of those we serve to enable them to enjoy the highest quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities designed to enhance the quality of life for adults with varying abilities and needs.
• Tailor activities to meet the individual preferences and capabilities of each participant.
• Work closely with the nursing staff and social workers to ensure activities align with medical and social needs.
• Maintain a warm and compassionate atmosphere to foster a sense of community among participants.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED required.
• Minimum one year experience in long-term care and/or dementia care preferred.
• Current NJ driver’s license may be required.
• May occasionally be required to work/travel to other locations.
• Flu vaccine required during flu season.

Qualifications

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with residents and colleagues.
• Knowledge of adult day health care principles and practices.
• Basic computer skills for accessing and utilizing relevant software.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to adapt activities to accommodate different abilities and needs.
• Patience and empathy to understand and respond to the diverse needs of participants.
• Organizational skills to manage schedules and activities.

Pay

$19.00 hourly rate.

Schedule

8:30am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday.

About The Team

Parker Adult Day Center (Highland Park) offers two Adult Day programs to address the issues of loneliness and isolation experienced by many elders who are aging at home. Our Social Program employees provide varied and vibrant activities that encourage and motivate seniors to stay connected to their peers, maintain their independence, and bring meaning and enjoyment to their days. Our Medical Program provides additional benefits such as individualized medication administration, support services, personal and therapeutic care. Parker Adult Day Center is staffed with dedicated individuals committed to meeting the needs of our program participants. Our nursing staff and social workers create individualized care plans to provide the best possible medical care, from blood pressure checks to medication management. Program participants benefit from peer relationships and socialization as well as interactions with our care partners.
