Recreation Assistant
About the role
Win is looking for an energetic and compassionate Recreation Associate to help create safe, engaging, and enriching experiences for children and families living in shelter. In this role, you will support educational and recreational programming that celebrates the diverse cultural backgrounds of the families we serve while fostering positive child development, community engagement, and family well-being.
Responsibilities
- Plan and facilitate recreational, educational, and social activities for children, youth, and families
- Support the coordination of special events and holiday celebrations that reflect the cultural diversity of our communities
- Build partnerships with community organizations to expand access to free and low-cost activities and resources
- Escort and supervise children and youth during field trips, community outings, and program activities
- Monitor recreational equipment and help maintain a safe environment for all participants
- Collaborate with shelter staff, Childcare Services, and multidisciplinary teams to support child development goals
- Maintain activity records, documentation, and reports in a timely and accurate manner
- Provide feedback and recommendations to strengthen programs and ensure activities meet the needs of children and families
Qualifications
You will possess a high school diploma or equivalent and have at least two (2) years of experience providing educational, recreational, or youth development programming for children, preferably within homeless or at-risk populations. You will demonstrate the ability to build trusting and supportive relationships with children and parents.
Pay
$17.29/Hour
