Recreation Assistant

Qualifications

• Must be able to read/write in the English language
• Highschool Diploma/G.E.D required
• Computer skills - People-oriented and friendly

Job Description

• Document all activities timely and appropriately in Pro-Activity attendance
• Reviews individual resident attendance and participation records with therapist
• Mets with Recreation Therapist for input and guidance regularly

Facility-wide Responsibilities & Standards

• Leads group activities for residents in a variety of recreational pursuits
• Invites and escorts residents to appropriate unit programs
• Regularly provides and documents meaningful 1:1 in-room resident visits if indicated
• Posts a written monthly activities schedule on assigned wing, near the nurses’ station and in Resident rooms
• Implements, in coordination with Program Director and Administrator, policies and procedures as they relate to the Therapeutic Recreation Department
• Preparation for specialized Recreation programs

Physical Requirements Of The Job

• Demonstrate ability to handle stressful situations
• Must be able to write & speak the English language in an understandable manner
• Ability to relate and work with the physically and emotionally challenged resident
