Recreation/Art Therapist - Per Diem - RTC/CTRS/ATR/ATR-BC
About the Role
Sierra Vista Hospital is seeking a Per Diem Therapeutic Activities Personnel II for the Therapeutic Activities Department. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working in a behavioral health setting and dedicated to serving patients alongside a team of healthcare professionals.
Sierra Vista Hospital is a 171-bed psychiatric care facility located in south Sacramento, offering full-service mental health care and support for patients and their families. Since 1986, the hospital has provided clinical expertise to individuals suffering from emotional, behavioral, and addiction problems.
Responsibilities
- Provide therapeutic activities in a psychiatric care setting.
- Apply knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques and understanding of mental illness.
- Assist in procedures following successful completion of required certifications (CPR, CPI, Verbal De-escalation).
- Work overtime and/or flexible hours as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Recreation Administration with a Therapeutic Recreation option or Master’s Degree in Art Therapy.
- Two years or more of related experience, preferably with knowledge of psychiatric patient care techniques.
- Current certification as Recreation Therapist Certified (RTC), Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Art Therapist Registered (ATR), and/or Art Therapist Registered and Board Certified (ATR-BC), or eligibility to sit for the exam and obtain certification within one year of employment.
- Successful completion of CPR certification, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI), and Verbal De-escalation within the first 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in procedures.
