Recreation Aid (Trainee-Lifeguard) NF-01.
Duties
This is a training position for a certified Lifeguard. Those hired for this position will be required to complete the lifeguard training to include the acquisition of all certifications (listed below) within 30 days of employment. Those who fail to do so will be released from employment.
- Lifeguarding certifications include:
- - Lifeguarding and First Aid (American Red Cross or nationally recognized equivalent i.e. Star Guard, YMCA, or ELLIS);
- American Red Cross "Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation for the Professional";
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED or equivalent (American Heart Association CPR/AED);
- First Aid.

Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position
Satisfactory completion of employment verification (E-Verify) check
One year probationary period may be required
A physical examination is required
Must be able to obtain a Tier 1 background investigation
Must be able to work weekdays, weekends, holidays and various hours of the day and week when required.
Failure to complete the required certification will result in removal from employment.
Continuous exposure to sun and prolonged periods of high temperature and humidity.
In case of exposure to infectious disease, incumbent is required to obtain the Hepatitis B vaccination series within a 24-hour period.
Lifeguard must have good vision (based upon an acceptable standard of 20/40 vision or better, either corrected (with glasses or contacts) or uncorrected) is necessary while on duty to effectively recognize all emergencies, incidents and rule breaking.
Qualifications
A qualified candidate must possess the following:
- Must be able to swim.
- Must be able to participate in the lifeguard certifications.

Area Of Consideration
This job is open to candidates who live in this commuting area (the Island of Oahu).
If determined that area of consideration is to be expanded, all candidates will be considered.
If you reside outside of the local commuting area, relocation costs will be at your expense.
This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system.
FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week - whichever gives the employee more benefit.
Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays.
Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
