It provides overarching leadership and management to NUWAY House, Cochran Recovery Services, The Gables, Arrigoni Housing Support, and NUWAY Recovery Foundation.

About the role

Resident Assistant Live-In supervise and manage residents' behavior and help manage resident crisis situations when necessary. This position will be provided with sleeping accommodations. Resident Assistants require self-confidence, professionalism, and the ability to exercise individual discretion and judgment. They must manage competing demands on their time and adhere to program schedule and rules. This includes situations where a resident may be under the influence of a controlled substance or struggling with mental health symptoms; the Resident Assistant will respond in a professional, therapeutic, and positive manner. They must be able to react and respond to medical emergencies, conveying a positive and professional image to residents, staff, and visitors. Resident Assistants must maintain resident confidentiality in accordance with state and federal guidelines and HIPAA requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage residents' behavior
  • Help manage resident crisis situations when necessary
  • Respond to medical emergencies in a professional manner
  • Maintain resident confidentiality per state, federal, and HIPAA guidelines
  • Medication administration (5:00 am – 8:00 am)
  • Changeover with daytime staff (8:00 am – 8:30 am)

Schedule

  • Sleeps during weeknights but must respond to any urgent needs
  • Not clocked in unless working on a situation with a resident
  • Monday-Friday shift from 5:00 am – 8:30 am (clocked in)

Requirements

  • Age 18 or older
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification and Medication Administration certificate obtained within 30 days of starting work
  • Able to pass Minnesota DHS background study
  • Ability to commit to a Monday-Friday schedule, overnights during the weeknights, and be responsible for any urgent needs
  • Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
  • Skills and knowledge acquired through at least one of the following:
    • A course of study in a health or human services related field leading to a Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Associate’s degree
    • One year of experience with the target population served
    • Experience as a certified peer specialist according to Minnesota Statutes, section 256B.0615
    • Meet the requirements for unlicensed personnel under Minnesota Statutes, sections 144A.43 to 144A.483
  • Completion of vulnerable adult mandated reporter training
  • Completion of orientation training when offered by the Department

Skills

  • Proficient in understanding, following instructions, and communicating effectively in English
  • Able to effectively document services in writing formatted in English
  • Competent computer skills and able to effectively enter information in various systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Hold a current driver's license appropriate to the vehicle used if transporting recipients of Housing Support
  • Previous experience in an addiction treatment facility, residential facility, or experience working in the substance use disorder and/or mental health field

Physical Demands

  • Sitting for extended periods of time
  • Daily use of general office and/or residential facility equipment
  • Lifting (max 50 pounds), minimal reaching, bending, and stooping
  • Ability to effectively navigate program or office environment such as ascending and descending steps, passing through doorways and entrances, and accessing program/office facilities

Pay

$20.00 - $23.00 per hour
