About the role

The Missouri Judiciary is seeking a Court Clerk to perform advanced work using an electronic filing system in a court within the Missouri State Court System. The position involves responsibility for court case processing, which may require the application of independent judgment and the application of statutes, policies, and regulations, with minimal supervision. The role also entails frequent interaction with the public, providing exceptional customer service, and supporting a circuit judge or associate circuit judge.

Responsibilities

  • Scan documents to the associated docket entries
  • Check documents previously scanned for quality assurance
  • Operate electronic sound recording machine
  • Periodically provide clerical support for a judge in a division
  • Serve in the courtroom
  • Note continuances
  • Administer oaths to witnesses and jurors
  • Answer inquiries and furnish information to attorney, court personnel, and the general public by telephone and in person
  • Absorb and process incoming documents from the e-Filing system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning and one year of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties
  • Basic knowledge of court procedures and policies, legal documents, laws, and legal factors pertaining to the court
  • Basic knowledge of organization operations, functions, and scope of authority of the court
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively while handling a high-volume workload in an environment subject to frequently changing priorities and high stress
  • Exercise good judgment and make independent decisions in accordance with general policy and objectives
  • Maintain a variety of complex records and prepare reports from an automated system

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s Degree in a related field or at least 60 semester hours from an institution of higher learning and one year of varied administrative experience performing a wide range of technical office duties.
  • Additional experience above the minimum stated may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.

Pay

The salary reflected represents the base pay for this position and does not include any differential for time-of-service pay for state tenure.
