Job Summary / Purpose
The Reconditioning Manager is responsible for overseeing the Ohio Truck Sales semi-truck reconditioning process and staff. Initiatives include meeting and/or exceeding monthly reconditioning goals through key performance indicators and fostering high morale through teamwork amongst (3) sub departments.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions
- Lead and manage the truck reconditioning process through key performance indicators in (3) sub departments of Cosmetic, Mechanical and Detail reconditioning.
- Manage average reconditioning cost objective per truck while ensuring monthly unit output targets are met.
- Develop and distribute weekly reconditioning plans at least one week in advance to support parts procurement planning.
- Analyze cross-team performance gaps to determine root causes and implement corrective action plans to achieve departmental objectives.
- Communicate monthly goals, progress, and updates clearly to department leaders, and conduct regular one-on-one reviews to evaluate monthly scorecard performance.
- Coach, mentor, and hold leaders accountable for truck quality, KPI performance, and team morale.
- Manage employee performance through training, coaching, and performance management practices.
- Lead daily huddles with supervisors to review progress and align priorities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional facility environment—inside and out.
- Continuously document, refine, and improve all reconditioning processes.
- Ensure accurate and timely monthly reporting through Excel and ERP reporting.
- Oversee all facility equipment, assets, and maintenance schedules within company systems.
- Ensure all process documentation is organized, accessible, and consistently followed by all.
- Enforce safety standards and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Escalate issues and obstacles to senior management as needed.
- Partner with Human Resources to develop policies, training programs, and team support initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in Body Shop, Truck Repair, Engineering, Business, Logistics, or a related field is a plus but not required.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience, with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated knowledge of ERP systems and reporting.
- An open door and honest leadership style coupled with self-motivation and strategic thinking skills.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills at the group and individual level; able to gain the confidence and trust of others.
- Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels within the organization.
- Problem solving skills; ability to assess a situation, focus on the issues, and create multiple solutions to resolve the issues.
- A confident and secure interpersonal style, which will allow the incumbent to effectively set objectives and secure results, while working effectively in a team-based environment.
- He/She must be engaging and highly driven with an ‘action’ orientation and a positive, “can-do” personal approach/bias for action.
- Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety.
