About the role
Medical Associates Clinic is seeking a part-time Receptionist or a full-time Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join their Bellevue Family Care Network team. The clinic provides comprehensive family medicine, patient education, and convenient consultation and referral to specialists.
Responsibilities
- Demonstrate effective customer service skills by greeting customers politely, promptly, and helpfully, and providing necessary instructions or directions.
- Check in patients for their appointments, including reviewing, updating, and/or obtaining patient information, making necessary account changes for correct billing.
- Set up new insurance coverage or modify existing insurance coverage records as needed.
- Collect copay or other payments where applicable and perform accurate end of day balancing.
- Schedule appointments for patients within the clinics or from work queues, following department/provider scheduling protocols.
- Provide verbal and/or written instructions to patients, peers, and clinical team members, maintaining effective relationships with others.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
- As a CMA, collect pertinent patient health care data, diagnostic testing, treatments, and review medical records, conferring with physicians/mid-level providers to ensure patient needs are met.
- May include general office duties such as obtaining and updating patient demographic and insurance information, accepting payment and co-pays, scheduling and coordinating multiple appointments, and creating lab orders.
- Collaborate with healthcare team according to the plan of care, communicating effectively with patients, co-workers, and others.
- Communicate patient education and document care provided, including interventions, medication, patient education, and assist with the integrity of medical records.
- Facilitate reimbursement of services provided, including charge tickets, referrals, and insurance requirements.
- Maintain a safe, neat, organized, and supplied office environment, ensuring equipment is functioning safely and properly, performing cleaning and maintenance as needed.
- Participate in devising systems to improve quality and efficiency of patient care and workflow.
- Provide input for improving patient care and workflow.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures.
- Complete all other assigned projects and duties.
Requirements
- Experience: From three months to one year of similar or related experience. Phlebotomy experience preferred but not required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required OR an equivalent to a two-year college degree OR completion of a specialized course of study with certification at a business or trade school.
Skills and Abilities
- Interpersonal Skills: A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
- Keyboarding skills and use of electronic equipment.
- Use and operate a wide variety of diagnostic and medical equipment.
- Use personal protection safety equipment including gloves, lab coats, gowns, goggles, and face masks/shields.
- BLS required biannually.
