About the role
Beloit Health System is looking to add a Receptionist to our Team! This is a 1st shift position, working 40 hours per week, and is eligible for benefits in the Beloit Clinic Registration department.
Responsibilities
- Answers incoming telephone calls, checks in patients as they arrive, schedules appointments, takes telephone messages and directs patients to various areas
- Accurately records pertinent information when scheduling appointments and taking phone messages
- Completes and accurately implements check-in process to include guarantor selection, updating demographic information, insurance entry and verification, copayments, and scanning of insurance card
- Directs patient to correct waiting area and verifies that signature of NPP is on file
- Checks patient out after completion of physician visit or procedure and schedules any necessary follow-up appointments
- Schedules appointments according to physician's guidelines and uses all options to represent the physicians' practices in an accommodating manner
- Participates in opening and closing responsibilities and Saturday schedule, by rotation
- Sets up information on system for new patient accounts and follows instructions regarding patient account status to determine delinquent accounts
- Collects patient payments accurately and enters payments into computer system and prints receipt
- Refers patient's questions regarding insurance, billing, patient accounts, payments and record transfer to the proper department
- Attends to physician needs in relation to work-ins, canceling, rescheduling, or confirming appointments as directed by nursing staff or physician
- Executes changes when indicated on patient data within the computer system and updates patients on doctors' schedule changes
- Prepares desk for next day by completing designated closing tasks
- Directs dissatisfied customers to Clinic Manager Patient Relations/Reception as necessary
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent required
- Medical terminology and/or medical clinic reception experience preferred
- Excellent organizational, verbal communication and interpersonal relation skills
- Ability to work with a diverse patient population
- Ability to read, write, add, subtract and alphabetize
- Computer literacy
- Accuracy, attention to detail, flexibility, and able to work in a fast-paced, interruptive environment
- Must be able to multi-task and prioritize work and maintain control and professionalism
