About the role
Wood County Norwood Health Center is seeking a detail-oriented individual with a clerical background and a passion for community service. This position supports the efficient operation of the switchboard and lobby under the supervision of the Health Information Supervisor.
Schedule
- Weekdays: 4:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m.
- Weekends: 1:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
- 12 hours per week
- Every other weekend and every other holiday
Pay
$16.93 to $19.17 per hour
Responsibilities
- Operate the switchboard efficiently: direct incoming calls, take accurate messages, and assist staff/patients with calls. Contact maintenance or management for switchboard issues.
- Maintain and transfer the facility vehicle schedule and keys to the Admissions Unit at the end of each shift.
- Monitor the lobby area: greet, screen, and direct visitors, notifying appropriate staff before visitors proceed.
- Observe residents and situations in the lobby, reporting any issues to the relevant person or unit.
- Manage building access: turn lights on/off and lock specified areas at the start and end of shifts.
- Maintain the lobby and reception areas, ensuring they are neat, clean, and orderly at all times.
- Water lobby plants according to schedule.
- Assist with sales and payments for meal tickets and lobby items.
- Perform clerical tasks such as sorting, calculating, collating, stapling, and proofreading.
- Build and maintain cooperative working relationships using effective interpersonal skills.
- Adhere to general policies and procedures to support the efficiency of the lobby and Norwood Health Center.
- Arrive on time and as scheduled, allowing for smooth transition between shifts.
- Report absences to the Health Information Supervisor with sufficient notice to arrange a substitute.
- Attend mandatory training sessions.
- Follow county safety policies and perform all tasks in a safe manner.
- Complete any other assigned duties.
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One year of related clerical experience preferred.
- Previous reception and/or telephone experience preferred.
- Maintain a pleasant disposition at all times.
- Proficient in computer data entry.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Flexibility with assignments and ability to concentrate.
- High accuracy in all job responsibilities.
- Strong judgment, especially in client interactions.
- Excellent listening, written, and oral communication skills, including proper English usage, grammar, punctuation, and style.
